Half-Life 3 rumors, subscription-based gaming mice, and dual-mode gaming monitor

From rumors of a new Half-Life 3 in development for over 20 years to Logitech's ambition to charge for using its gaming mice and a state-of-the-art dual-mode gaming monitor from ASUS, there's all that and more in the latest tech episode.

Gaming enthusiasts can finally look forward to another Valve creation. Rumors of details of a new PC game in development have surfaced on the internet, and it looks like it could be Half-Life 3.

It is the game under the Project White Sands name that is very reminiscent of the older Half-Life titles. It was at White Sands Park in the US where the fictional Black Mesa Research Center from earlier Half-Life installments was located.

In fact, this may simply be an attempt to confuse fans. More important details will be available at GamesCom soon.

On the technology front, the CEO of Logitech proposed the concept of a "forever mouse", which would make the user pay a monthly fee to install the latest software.

Of course, this would mean that new Logitech mice would have to be something special to be worth subscribing to. The question is how useful the new concept can be, as it may detract from the quality of use of the mouse, making it heavier or even devoid of exclusive styles.

Nilay Patel of The Verge pointed out that such a system is unlikely to be feasible, as mice lose their function over time, wear out, and do not function as they should. Time will tell if this new fad can work.

ASUS recently launched a new gaming monitor, the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP. This new gaming monitor has two modes - the ability to switch between 4k 240Hz and 1080p (FullHD) 480Hz, allowing it to adapt to different games.

This is useful for gamers who like to switch between first-person shooters and adventure-style games, as one requires higher frame rates and less visual quality.

The monitor features special anti-glare protection, a response time of 0.03ms, a color gamut of 99 percent, and ultra-accurate color reproduction. However, all these benefits come at a price - the monitor will cost €1,200.
