The DrDisRespect scandal, the official Steam controller, and the return of Logitech
From the breaking of the mystery veil in the DrDisrespect blocking scandal to an official Steam console that won't be developed by Valve themselves, to news from Logitech - all this and much more in the latest episode of Technology News.
Guy Beahm, better known as "DrDisrespect", who has been in the content creation business for 14 years, has built up an audience of almost 5 million followers on YouTube, and used to bring in crowds in the tens of thousands of people during live streams on Twitch before it was blocked.
But they say the bigger you are, the harder you fall. So it was for DrDisrespect, which managed to destroy his entire reputation in a matter of days. It was in 2020 that the "Ban" was finally brought to light.
It was a former Twitch employee who made public the fact that Mr Beahm had sent messages of a sexual nature to a minor back in 2017. This was the reason why he was blocked from the largest game streaming platform. Interestingly, DrDisrespect himself did not deny this fact and even apologized to everyone on his official X account.
Moving on from the not so pleasant news, something a bit more fun is the return of the Steam controller, which was discontinued at the end of October last year. Interestingly, this console was not made by Valve, but by another company, Hori.
The new controller will compete with the market-dominating Xbox and Playstation controllers. However, it is not clear what will be unique about this controller - could it be tailored specifically for PCs?
Like most models, this one was designed to be wireless and will have a wired function via a Type-C connector. It will also have a Gyro function, like the Nintendo or Playstation controllers, and the cost of it will be neither high nor low - €47.
Her Majesty Logitech is back. It is this well-known company that is releasing the new Logitech G515 Lightspeed TLK keyboard. It is an improved version of the previous G915.
What makes this keyboard unique is that it is much cheaper, better, and has more features than the previous version. In addition to its beautiful design and impressive thinness (22 mm), this low-profile keyboard will also have two position options: lying down for long use and gaming as well as upright used more for typing.
Special thanks to Prah for helping out in preparing for the Logitech review!
